Hi All,
Last month I posted to ask for you kind people to
vote online for funding for the Rails To Trails Conservancy.
It worked! RTC won the $200,000 grant. Their rivals in
the vote won also. See below for the story.
Thanks!

Friends,
We have some very good news to share with you -- news that you have made possible!
When the polls in the Members
Project from American Express and Take Part closed at midnight on May 23,
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy held 43% of the vote and was locked in a
tie with our good friends at the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
After a week of auditing the thousands and thousands of votes cast, the news was
doubly good. The contest was declared a draw, and American Express graciously
decided to grant $400,000 -- $200,000 to each organization!
We and our colleagues at the National Trust couldn't be more pleased
with this result that acknowledges the enthusiastic support shown for
the work of both our organizations.
It's easy to say that every vote
matters. But in such a spirited contest that came right down to the
wire, it's absolutely true.
It's also true that we couldn't have
done this without your support and your passion to build healthier
places for healthier people. After all, this really is your
victory-and a victory for the trail movement nationwide.
So how will we put that $200,000 to work?
Throughout the Members Project competition, we heard from so many of you
who told us exactly why rail-trails were so
vital to your communities and your lives, and why you were voting for
RTC. We're honoring that dedication by using this award to further
our initiatives that enable more people to build, find and use
trails for transportation and recreation.
