Did you get your fill of fireworks? Did you miss out? Want more? It's not too late to see more Fourth of July fireworks.
Alexandria celebrates the 4th by celebrating their own city birthday the Saturday following the 4th of July. From 4 pm to 6 pm there's a variety of community tables, food vendors, and a nice relaxed atmosphere at Oronoco Bay Park, right on the Mt Vernon bike trail.
You can bike down and enjoy getting a slice of birthday cake, enjoy the Alexandria Symphony, and delight in hearing live cannons with the 1812 Overture and watching the fireworks over the Potomac River. The evening is over around 9:30 pm.
If you'd like to help staff the Bike Walk Alexandria table, contact eliz.wright at alumni.umw.edu or jjkingconsulting at yahoo.com. We'd like to have a few volunteers to spread the word on the joys of biking and walking. (Shifts are 3:30 - 5:30 pm and 5:30 - 7:30 pm) If you'd just like to enjoy the evening, stop by the BWA table and say hello. We're co-located next to the city's "Local Motion" table this year. Stop by and pick up a free ankle reflector.
