Alexandria Volunteer Day - Any Bike Projects?

Yon,
I got a flyer in the mail today about an Alexandria Volunteer Bureau
campaign in coordination with the City to do things like gardening at
schools and libraries and cleaning up the waterfront and such. Any
bicycle-specific activities that you know of? ...not that I *can't*
help out in some other way... Just curious, really.
Also, any chance you could help me find out who in the City is
replacing the curbs and driveways in Del Ray? They're building the
driveway cutouts with a 2-3" gutter. I've had to learn to bunny hop
my fixed gear bike and each of my boys has learned all about road rash
after encountering a few of these. Which is to say that if a 40lb kid
hits the "driveway" on 12" wheels with enough speed to get him onto
the sidewalk, the high lip also sends him skyward. Heck, my car
complains if I enter the alley at more that 2mph. Anyway, their
design is very anti-bike/stroller/kid.
br,
Clarence
