Accrording to VA Law, you are required to yield to a pedestrian in a 
crosswalk anywhere the speed limit is 35mph or less.  This includes mid 
block crossings and corner crossings without traffic lights or stop 
signs.  Unfortunately, very few people, including the police, abide by 
this law.
