Sorry if you get this twice.
Are there any pedestrian or bicycle folks out there that lives in this
community? I have been loosely following the planning meetings on the
Braddock Road Metro Neighborhood and made it to one of the meetings tonight,
Monday Nov 12. This is a big deal for setting the tone for the
redevelopment of this whole are over the next 10-15 years. The city is
really reaching out to get citizen input, must have been 75 people at this
meeting. From my brief look see, the consultants, the city staff and the
citizens want the area to be pedestrian and bike friendly. However, they
could a few "expert" locals to chime in. So please try to make it to the
next meeting and if you live in this area, give some first hand advice on
what needs t be done. One suggestion that needs support is bicycle
boulevards, say, for example, going the entire length of Fayette street
north south, or Wythe Street going east west. Get rid of many of the stop
signs along with other measures to expedite bikes while also calming the
speed of cars.
