Assaults against female pedestrians in the N Morgan/Beauregard area

Pls post- cyclists are incredible eyes and ears when it comes to crime deterrence/intel.
   
  Others, pls circulate amoung people who live/work in that area.  Pls note these incidents did not occur in the Holmes Run park area, but were close to the area.

  The Alexandria Police are investigating an Abduction (case #07154783) that occurred on November 5, 2007 at 5:45 in the morning and a Sexual Assault (case #07142863) that occurred August 31, 2007 at 5:00 in the morning.  Both incidents occurred near the intersection of N. Morgan and N. Beauregard Streets.  
   
  On November 5, 2007, a female exited a bus on the west side of the intersection.  She crossed the intersection and started to walk up N. Morgan Street when an unknown male grabbed her from behind.  He attempted to pull her into the woods.  The victim was able to fight off the attacker.  The victim was then hit over the head with a hard object and knocked unconscious.  The suspect in the November case is described as follows:  unknown race male, 5'7"-5’8”, thin build.  The suspect was wearing gloves and a knit, ski mask.
   
  On August 31, 2007, a female was power walking northbound on N. Beauregard Street when she was grabbed from behind.  The suspect attempted to pull the victim into the woods.  She fought with the suspect causing them both to fall to the ground.  The suspect sexually assaulted the victim, let go of her and ran south on N. Beauregard Street.  The suspect in the August case is described as a possible black male, 5’10” –6’1” stocky build, wearing layered clothing with a flannel shirt on top and a hat with a brim (possibly a ball cap).
