I think Randy would be great on the Traffic Board and would like to give him a Bike Walk Alexandria endorsement. See Citizen Association endorsement below. Please let me know if there are any objections. In the meantime I will draft an email for Jerry to send. Anyone else who knows Randy or would feel comfortable endorsing him are encouraged to do so. Address to City Council and send to Rose Boyd

Thanks

I think you know Randy. If you feel you can support his appointment
if would help if you would send in an email. I believe he would be a good
addition to the Traffic Board bringing a voice for peddles and peds. This
should be voted on at the 22cd meeting

Comments: Dear Mr. Mayor and Council Members:
I support the nomination of Mr. Randy
Cole for the position of Citizen
member of Alexandria’s Traffic and
Parking Board.
Randy Cole is well qualified to be a
Board member. As an advocate for safe
and walkable neighborhoods, he became
the Chairman of the Traffic Committee
of the Taylor Run Citizens
Association. Over a two-year period,
Randy organized, led and obtained $20K
of traffic calming measures for our
neighborhood.
Randy is a multi-mode commuter.
Currently a Metro rider, he is also is
bicycle commuter when the opportunity
is available. So he knows firsthand
the interdependent issues of urban
design, land use and transportation.
Randy is responsible and well
organized. As an active member of the
Jaycees, Randy led a $12,000
fundraiser that provided funds for
ALIVE!, the Alexandria charity. The
successful fundraiser was awarded
‘Jaycees Project of the Year’.
The City will be well served with
Randy Cole as a Citizen Member of the
Traffic & Parking Board. I urge you to
appoint him to the Board.
Sincerely,
Peter Newbould
President, TRCA
