If BikeWalk Alexandria seeks a formal affiliation with an established
non-profit to utilize the larger organization's 501(c)(3) status, please
consider the Washington Area Bicyclist Association. WABA has 1) an
excellent and long-established "'Sponsored Projects" program, which
currently includes the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute and Bikes for the
World, 2) a large and supportive Alexandria membership, and 3) a very
strong mission and interest in improving the bicycling and walking
environment and culture in Alexandria. The fact that BikeWalk Alexandria
includes pedestrian advocacy should have little or no bearing on its
relationship with WABA.
The Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee meets on the first Monday of
even-numbered months, so I can't attend any BWA meetings on those dates.
Cheers,
