Open Space Steering Committee
Citizen committee established by City council to make recommendations on open space for the city. Trail connections play a prominent role in plan. Top priorities from last year include the Mt. This was in the Bike Plan and the city has bought the land. Work is still needed to assure that a trail will go in. Report for 2004 includes a section on all the trail connections needed to implement the Bike Plan (with Bike Committee informal updates). Plan is available at http://ci.alexandria.va.us/recreation/general/OpenSpacehome.html . Steering Committee Report to CC for 2204 is at http://207.192.134.164/fy05/092804rm/di19.pdf. See separate message for trails sections of this report. Bruce Dwyer sits on the Committee and represents biking, walking and trail interests. Committee meets monthly on a variable schedule. Next meeting is Thursday, Feb 24, 7:00 AM at Lee Center.
