BikeWalk Alexandria Minutes
Monday 8 Nov 2004 at 7:30 at St. Elmo's Coffee Pub

ATTENDING: Kaj Vetter, Bruce Dwyer, Jerry King,
Rachael Kennedy, Larry Grossman, Dave Levy.

1- Acceptance of September Minutes - approved
2- Formal name for the committee:
Decided on a contest going out on the list serve and
will pick at next meeting.
3- Mission Statement:
We will discuss at a meeting with more participation.
4 - Meeting Locations and time:
Since there was low participation at both the Sept and
Oct meetings we felt we would try going back to St.
Elmo's or Mishias since those meetings had a great
turnout. We discussed the times also. All the
community centers except the Lee Center close at 9 and
you must vacate by 8:45 so those were deemed
unacceptable. We decided the 3rd Tuesday at St Elmo's
may be the best as they have entertainment Wed thru
Sat. Jerry will check this out.
5- Major Issues and Priority List strategy:
We decided to send out a survey on the list serv and
see what the interests are out there. Rachael will
draft a survey up and we will compile before next
meeting.
6- City Bike and Ped Coordinator Position:
We were told the position is advertised.
7- Bikes Belong Coalition Grant: Nobody to pursue at
this time.
8- Foxchase Shopping Center - Elizabeth Wright was not
present
9- WWB Neighborhood Task Force Update - Jerry King:
The temporary trail rerouting seems to be going well,
only one complaint so far. We discussed the effort to
have the current trail along the river designated as
wetlands to preserve it from development. We must
make sure this happens as VDOT is putting Hunting
towers up for sale next spring.
