Dear Mount Vernon Advocates
RE: The future Fort Hunt sidewalk along the length of the Belle Haven CC.
>From the note below and the attached letter from the New Alexandria CA, I
suspect most of you are expecting that, when finished, there would be
detached [from the road] sidewalk along the length of the Belle Haven CC.
I have recently heard, but can NOT confirm, that the agreement with the
County was modified to allow segments of the path to be on the road
shoulder. This solution may be acceptable, but if true, I would like to
determine if the change was reviewed by an appropriate citizen group such as
the MVCCA.
Thanks for any feedback,
Bob Brubaker

Subject: Fort Hunt Road Sidewalk - Thanks
Bob,
Thanks very much for all your help in securing a sidewalk to the list of
construction projects being undertaken by Belle Haven Country Club during
their renovations. Our community felt strongly about making sure BHCC follow
through on the community development commitment. This sidewalk on the
eastern side of Fort Hunt Road will not only allow our community but also
neighboring communities the opportunity to have a safe access to Route 1,
Metro, and the Parkway. Attached is a copy of the letter that was sent to
Gerry Hyland and yourself in response to this favorable action. Thanks again
for all your help.
