Dear Alexandria Cycling Activists,
Are you willing to coordinate a "Bicycle Friendly Community Training
Workshop" for the City of Alexandria?
In March, I attended the tail end of a presentation on this program by the
New York Bicycle Coalition. Although I missed most of the presentation,
Eric Gilliland of WABA was there for all of it, and we both have the
presentation materials. My understanding is that these workshops, acting
as the bicycling version of the NCBW's Walkable Community Workshops,
prepare communities to take the steps needed to be recognized as a Bicycle
Friendly Community by LAB. Arlington County received the bronze (lowest)
level of LAB BFC recognition last fall.
Since this is an excellent way to advance bicycling in Alexandria, I
expect many to say YES and to collaborate on the requested one-paragraph
response on how *we* will make this workshop happen in Alexandria.
Thanks,
Allen

$500 Reward for Bicycle Friendly Communities
Deadline May 15th
Is your community ready to become more bicycle friendly?
Are you ready to host a 'bicycle friendly communities' training workshop?
Would $500 help make this workshop happen in the next 5 months?
If the answer to these questions is 'yes,' the New York Bicycling
Coalition is here to help as part of a national project funded in
cooperation with NHTSA and APBP. To apply, please send a message with a
one paragraph response to the following question:
If you get a $500 mini-grant for hosting a bicycle friendly community
workshop, how would this help make your community a better place for
bicycling?
