I have found past conferences extremely valuable. With it being in Arlington, at $125 for 2 days, its a bargain this year with no lodging or travel expenses. Its is especially appropriate for government staff with bicycle or pedestrian responsibilities.

6th Annual BIKE WALK VIRGINIA Conference

The agenda for the 6th annual Virginia Bike Walk Conference from April 4-7th in Arlington, Virginia is packed with national experts and leaders. The theme is “Creating Living Communities.” Headline speakers include national walking and community experts, Mark Fenton, Rich Killingsworth, Reid Ewing, and Thomas Hylton. Transportation Secretary Whitt Clement will update us on the new VDOT pedestrian policy. The breakout sessions will feature speakers who have been leaders and planners in areas such as the new school initiative, Walk Smart Virginia; various bike and pedestrian plans throughout the Commonwealth, New Urbanism, the development of “friends” groups, bike-friendly communities, and creating Active for Life communities.

Register before March 15 to avoid the late registration fee. Registration is available at: http://www.bikewalkvirginia.org/conference/registration.html
