In case you are interested, anyone can attend & observe these mtgs. If you are concerned about transportation issues it's advisable you have someone from you n'hood or civic association attend these mtgs. And since many of us work & can't attend due to work, it would be interesting if you plan to attend on a regular basis & the rest of us get an ad hoc report.
Remember, transportation means everything: pedestrian, buses/Metro (transit), bikes. Think, move people not move cars!

Subject: Transportation Commission working group
City Council has created a working group to consider the creation of a transportation commission. Members of this group are Vice Mayor Pepper, Councilmember Rob Krupicka, Planning Commission Chairperson Eric Wagner, Planning Commissioner Larry Robinson, Lois Walker representing the Chamber of Commerce and me representing the Federation of Civic Associations.
The first meeting of this group will be at 4 p.m, Wednesday, Jan. 7th in the Council workroom. I urge all of you who are available at that time to attend and observe this meeting.
So far the only written material on this commission is a sketchy two page memo from the City Manager. Obviously there's much to learn about the thinking that prompted this proposal. I'll send a report after the meeting, but it's much better that observers come and form their own opinions.
