1. Thanks to the city for the maintenance improvements on the Holmes Run
Path under I-395. Gravel and sand have been removed, rough sections of
concrete patched and the tunnel cleaned. Much better.

2. From the Alexandria Gazette, July 19, 2001 page 21 in an article
entitled "Luxury Apartment Community Coming to Eisenhower Valley" quoting
Aaron Liebert, development associate for JPI: "Residents will, hopefully, be
able to walk to work, enjoy entertainment and even go into Old Town. We
plan to provide complimentary bicycle rental for residents as well as
complimentary bike storage in the parking structure." This is great to hear
because it shows that the development community is getting clued into making
it easier for people to get around without cars. Do you think that the
bicycle program is a part of a required Transportation Management Plan for
the facility?

If you see good things happening in Alexandria for cyclists and pedestrians,
please let the rest of us know.
