Fort Hunt Park

Dear Sir or Madam;

When is the loop around Fort Hunt Park ( south of Alexandria VA) scheduled
to be repaved ?    Is there any chance of having it funded next year ?

In the early evening, after the picnic crowd had departed, the inside loop,
for non-motorized traffic,  would get a good turn-out of bikers and skaters.
Unfortunately the surface has deteriorated to a point where it's not
pleasant to ride there anymore.

The GWMP is the other alternative,  but it lacks the 'meeting place'  that
Ft Hunt provided for young bikers who wanted to try their luck keeping up
with the more experienced riders.  The multi-use path by the GWMP has too
many walkers to be safe for riding at a good-workout pace.

The funding for the planned handicap access upgrade, scheduled for last
November,  appears to have been lost.    The Chief of Maintenance (Rich
Foster) had hoped to do interim road patch work as part of that project.
