Governor's Proclamation Ride

Bruce Dwyer and Maitland Bottoms of the Alexandria Bicycle Committee are
going to go all the way... from Richmond to Alexandria to bring the
Governor's Bike Month Proclamation to Northern Virginia.  We will bring back
a proclamation for Alexandria, and for Arlington, and for any other
jurisdiction if you let me know.  By bike it is 150 miles, so we will make
the trip in 2 days with an overnight in Fredericksburg.

Please join us for part of the trip.

Option 1:  Meet us in Fredericksburg at the Hampton Inn on Rt 3 just east of
I-95 at 7:30 am on Wednesday May 2 for the 75 mile trip to Alexandria.  Let
me know if you are interested and I will give you our final plans on Monday
April 30.

Option 2: Take off a little early from work and join us at Mount Vernon at
4:00 pm on Wednesday May 2.  Meet at the trailhead where it joins the
parking lot.  Or meet us at Belle Haven about 4:40 if you are really feeling
lazy.  We will ride the 10 miles as a group to Alexandria City Hall, where
we will present the proclamation to Mayor Kerry Donley in his office.
Option 2A, if we do not make it by 4:15 pm due to mechanical or physical
breakdown, go to City Hall and fake it with a rolled up piece of paper.  We
can deliver the real proclamation to the Mayor at Bike-to-Work Day.

Contact me if you have questions. After Wednesday afternoon, I will be
testing out the Bike Virginia ride through Sunday, so it will Monday before
I can get back to you.
