Bill Euille is the Alexandria Rep on the Metro Board.  Following is an
excerpt from the 4/10/01 City Council meeting

"Councilman Euille reported on his participation as a member of the Metro
Board of Directors as a representative of City Council and gave a status
report on the Metro system. Councilman Euille addressed the presentation
made by Metro staff at a recent Metro Board planning meeting in which they
proposed an extension of a purple line from PG County in Maryland across the
Woodrow Wilson Bridge to connect into Alexandria and Fairfax County via the
yellow and blue lines, with an additional station in Old Town. He explained
that this proposal had not been fully discussed with the respective
jurisdictions and has been tabled for the time being. It was reiterated that
Council has no problem with the concept of Metro rail or light rail crossing
the Woodrow Wilson Bridge at some future date."
