The city will be holding a series of public forums over the next several
months to gather public ideas and thoughts about Open Space in the city of
Alexandria. The multi-use trails, paths, and greenways is one of the
primary uses of open space. Improvements our trail network can greatly
improve the livability of Alexandria by encouraging people to bicycle or
walk to work, or to school, or to the store, or just to a friend's house for
a visit. Attached is a listing of the projects in the current Bike Plan and
the beginning of a list of more potential places to connect Alexandria's
neighborhoods. Thank you for your suggestions and let me know if you have
any further additions to add to the laundry list.
I encourage you and your friends and neighbors to attend one or more of the
city sponsored open space meetings to contribute your thoughts and ideas.
Schedule: There will be a scoping meeting in each of the city's three
planning districts beginning at 7 PM:
Monday April 16, Lee Rec. Center District I
Monday April 23, Mt. Vernon Rec. Center District II
Wednesday May 2, Patrick Henry Rec. Center District III
There will also be a citywide Open Space Summit
Saturday June 23 9 AM to 1 PM at the Lee Rec. Center
