3rd Annual Virginia Bike Walk Conference

Calling all Virginians interested in promoting biking and walking as
transportation and recreation throughout the Commonwealth. Make plans to
attend the 3rd Annual Conference

This conference is for citizen advocates, local, state and federal agency
officials, educators, public safety officials, transportation and recreation
planners, and others who want to make Virginia "biking and walking
friendly."

Conference Organizers

The conference is organized by BikeWalk Virginia www.bikewalkvirginia.org
and the Virginia Trails Association, in association with: the Virginia
Department of Transportation, the Virginia Health Department, and the
Virginia Department of Education.  It is supported in part by a Highway
Safety grant from the Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles.

Conference Program

The Conference begins with registration and a welcome reception on Sunday
April 1.  The program on Monday and Tuesday  includes a mobile workshop
where we walk or bike and see improvements in City of Charlottesville. Also
included is a keynote address by the Maryland Bicycle and Pedestrian
Coordinator, reports from state and national safety studies, and panel
discussions on bike education in the schools, safe routes
to schools, health and physical fitness, and smart growth.

Rooms are being held at the DoubleTree Hotel at a special rate of $66 single
or double. These rooms will be held until March 15, 2001. For reservations

Registration

The registration fee is $90 per person, $110 per person after March 15.
Limited scholarships are available.  Fee includes the welcome reception,
lunch on Monday and Tuesday, the Monday evening banquet and snack breaks.
