Join bicycle advocates, bicycle industry executives, key legislators and
government officials to discuss initiatives and policies facing bicyclists
including: Accommodations, Safety, Health, Environment, Intermodalism,
Ridership Goals, Smart Growth, Access, Recreation, and Direction for the
21st Century. The National Bike Summit will take place March 28-30, 2001 in
Washington, DC. Fees for early registration (postmarked or received by
February 15, 2001) are $285.00; late (postmarked or received after February
15, 2001) registration fees are $350.00. To register, go to

The National Bike Summit is sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists
in partnership with Bikes Belong Coalition, the Association of Pedestrian
and Bicycle Professionals, Rails to Trails Conservancy, International
Mountain Bicycling Association, The Thunderhead Alliance, and National
Center for Bicycling and Walking. The Summit will provide opportunities to
exchange ideas, set priorities and goals, establish new working
relationships and develop an agenda with a new Administration, Congress,
and
state and local legislators and officials. Speakers include:

Summit Workshops will cover:
Ridership Growth, Commuter Choice, Safety Issues, Quantifying the Benefits
of Bicycling, Combating Sedentary Behavior, The Enhancement Program,
Neighborhood Livability, Advocacy for the 21st Century, and a Stakeholder
Forum: Focus on Federal/State and Local Interests, Challenges and
Opportunities.
The Summit will also feature a coordinated lobby day for bicycle advocates
and industry representatives on Capitol Hill and with the new
administration. Each summit participant will have a unique schedule of
meetings with relevant legislators and government representatives. Your
participation can help raise pertinent issues and grow the profile of
cycling with key decision-makers.
