Elizabeth Wright would like COMCAST help in getting the trail through
Tarleton Park as part of Comcast being good neighbors when they move into
the Wheeler Ave. location. She strongly prefers the option from the bike
plan to improve the trail to go along the stream and connecting it across
the Northern edge of the playing field to the Holmes Run Trail and believes
the neighbors would be in favor of this. She would also like the trail to
be crushed stone to lessen the impact of runoff into the stream. She does
not believe the option to put the trail through directly at the end of
Wheeler is such a good idea. I said that I thought we could support this
approach. We put both options in the plan so that the neighborhood could
say what they think would work best. I also said that I do not have a
problem with the crushed stone. This would not be the mainline long
distance type trail, but rather a neighborhood connector where short
distances of unpaved trail would work and would also serve as a bicycle
traffic calming devise where there would most likely be multiple uses.
First, any comments on this approach.
Second, is anybody willing to work with Elizabeth on details and drafting a
letter to Comcast or the Planning Commission. I am short on time.
As a subgroup of the Park Commission, our position needs to be consistent
with the Bike Plan and be politically correct. Of course, anybody who feel
strongly about this may jump in on their own.
Thanks
