On behalf of the bicycling community of Alexandria, thanks to all those who
helped with the George Mason Bike Rodeo on April 29:
Officers Terri Mucci and Carl Wortham of the Alexandria Police for talking
on bike safety and being cool cops
Jim Wamsley, Darryl Schaffer, and Bruce Dwyer of the Alexandria Bike
Committee for helmet fitting
Connie West of the volunteer police auxiliary for registering bikes
John Usrey for bike repair
George Mason parents for general help
MK, Mike Garcia, and other State Farm staff for the rodeo gear
and expertise
and Thanks most of all to Robin Wallin for organizing the event and all the
rest of us.

It was a great rodeo with lots of enthusiasm. By my rough count, about 100
kids went through the safety checks in the rodeo, 35 bikes were registered,
and several helmet were sold. Most of the kids seemed to come with parents,
so they got a dose of bike safety also. The Bike Committee and Robin also
did 10 classroom presentations during the month that reached about 250
kids.

I am sending this to all of you for whom I have e-mails address and to the
Alexandria Be Safe Coalition members and to the bike committee listserv.
