With all the recent news on higher new cost estimate, there maybe some new
information at this hearing, but maybe not. If you have the opportunity,
speak up or write to be sure to keep the Mt. Vernon Path open during
construction.

Purpose of the Public Hearing:
To provide the public an opportunity, in an open forum, to informally review
and discuss with Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)
representatives the preliminary design plans for the proposed construction
of the portion of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project beginning at the Potomac
River in Jones Point Park to the last foundation support near Royal Street.
The focus of this Hearing is the construction of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge
in Jones Point Park and the interim improvements in Jones Point Park.
Current concepts of the interim and the ultimate Jones Point Park
enhancements and those of the Washington Street Deck will be available for
review, however, they will be the subject of separate Public Hearings
conducted by the City of Alexandria, later this year. Design Public Hearings
on the US Route 1 and Telegraph Road interchanges, will be the subject of
separate VDOT Public Hearings. Following this Public Hearing, considering
comments made during the Hearing and for a 10 day period following the
Public Hearing, the plans for this portion of the project will be completed.

Format of Hearing and Public Comments:
The Hearing will be a workshop format. An introductory video as well as
information stations with displays and plans will be available to discuss
with the Team members. No formal presentation will be made at the workshop.
A court recorder will be available for those attending to provide formal
verbal testimony. Written comments and other exhibits relative to this
portion of the Project will also be accepted at the Hearing or may be
submitted to the Project Office at any time within 10 days after the
Hearing. Comments may be e-mailed to hearing at wwbgec.com, beginning June 7,
2000, through the 10-day period.
