WOW, did it rain today. I drove (sorry about that) to Manassas to pick up
the wave and found 4 very wet and cold cyclists from Fredricksburg who had
ridden about 25 miles part of the way from F'burg. They had such a good time
that 1 or 2 of them will be riding with us on the Mt. Vernon Trail. We will
be riding with the wave rain or shine on Tuesday. The forecast is for
drizzle in the morning, letting up later in the day. So we plan to try to
wait out the rain and start from Mt. Vernon at 1:00 PM, arriving about 2:00
PM in Alexandria at Market Square, 2 blocks west of Union Street and above
the usual high water mark when it floods. Oh, yes, the forecast is for
possible flooding. Not to worry, I know the high ground route. If all goes
according to plan, we will be joined by Joe and Willie unless they get
flooded out. We will met the DC folks at the Virginia end of the Memorial
Bridge between 3:15 and 3:30 PM. All times are subject to change depending
on just how high the water might get.
I will post another message tomorrow if anything changes.
Call me if you have questions or want to confirm.
