Wrongful act by the city

I reported at the last meeting that work had begun on the Jamison Connector trail. I spoke with the construction foreman and he planned to have the trail completed by Easter. This was being done at no cost to the city as part of the developer's work on Old Town Village. Completion of this trail would have established a safe route between Holland Lane and West Avenue as specified in the bike master plan. Just one problem.

THE CITY ASKED THE CONTRACTOR NOT TO COMPLETE THE TRAIL!

Apparently, physical progress on a bike trail was more than someone in the city could tolerate.

I intend to:

1. Find out who interfered with construction of the trail.
2. Communicate with city officials to inform them that this action was not in the best interest of the citizens.
3. Request that the city contact the developer and instruct him to complete the trail as planned.

This is a good case to evaluate whether the city works in support of the citizens or against them.

I would appreciate any support that the committee can provide on this issue. I'm just getting warmed up and will not rest until the situation is resolved.
