A New York City tradition for families and friends!
An Official NYC 2000 event in celebration of the millennium!


Join 30,000 cyclists for a fabulous 42 mile ride on traffic free streets though
the five boroughs of New York City. Fun for the whole family and groups of
friends of all ages!
     Start in Battery Park, Manhattan, and pedal through Manhattan, The Bronx,
     Queens, Brooklyn, and over the Verrazano Bridge into Staten Island.
     Cycle over bridges, along waterfronts, onto highways, into neighborhoods
     and business districts, and through beautiful parks.
     Sail back to Manhattan on the Staten Island Ferry!
     Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Bruce "Cousin Brucie" Morrow of  WCBS-FM lead the
     cheers from the start line stage for this 23(superscript: rd) annual
     springtime tradition!
     End the Tour with a celebration Festival at Fort Wadsworth on Staten
     Island. Live music ? BIKE NEW YORK 2000 tee shirts and cycling merchandise
     ? food concessions ? gifts from sponsors. Join the fun!


The Tour is produced by Bike New York, Inc., and the New York City Department of
Transportation.

42 MILES OF TRAFFIC-FREE CYCLING!
BIKE NEW YORK: The Great Five Boro Bike Tour lets you ride at an easy
comfortable pace through the traffic-free streets of New York for a relaxed ride
through Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and over the Verrazano Narrows
Bridge onto Staten Island.

You'll start at 8:00am from Battery Park in Manhattan through the skyscraper
canyons of Sixth Avenue into beautiful Central Park You'll ride across five
bridges, with breathtaking views of New York and unique ethnic neighborhoods.

Æs changing skylines and
waterfronts, business districts, and parks.

The Tour takes you over the Harlem River and into the Bronx. You'll travel along
the East River on the FDR drive and over the Queensboro Bridge into Queens.
Peddling past Brooklyn's famed waterfront you cross magnificent New York Harbor
on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge into Staten Island.

Five rest stops on the Tour give you a chance to rest, refill your water bottle,
rejoin families and friends at the Reunion Centers, and replenish your energy
with oranges and Bonita Bananas.

At the Tour-ending Festival at Fort Wadsworth in Gateway National Recreation
Area on Staten Island you can relax, or dance to the music of the Soul Cruisers
performing live on the Festival stage, purchase a delicious lunch and a terrific
Event t-shirt -- and enjoy the fellowship of new friends and old.

Then celebrate being a part of the BIKE NEW YORK tradition on your free Staten
Island Ferry ride back to lower Manhattan.
